About Us
Pop Goes the Easel is a California-based nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting emerging voices in the visual arts. Our mission is to support and showcase local artists of all ages and mediums through free, community-centered pop-up exhibitions.
We work specifically with artists living in Sacramento, Los Angeles, and the San Francisco Bay Area, with a special focus on those who are just starting out and have never had a solo show. From painting and drawing to sculpture, photography, graphic design, mixed-media arts, and beyond—we believe in celebrating creativity in all its forms.
What We Do
Every year, Pop Goes the Easel organizes four pop-up exhibitions, each hosted at a different location across California. These dynamic shows are completely free for artists to participate in and free for the public to attend.
In addition to solo showcases, we also curate group exhibitions that bring together multiple artists in one space—creating a collaborative, high-energy environment that highlights the diversity and richness of our local art scenes.
Our venues range from industrial spaces and public parks to vacant storefronts and community centers, transforming unexpected places into temporary art hubs that welcome everyone.
Why We Do It
Breaking into the art world can be tough—especially without connections, resources, or a prior exhibition history. At Pop Goes the Easel, we’re here to change that. We exist to bridge the gap between raw talent and public visibility, offering new artists the exposure and experience they need to grow their careers.
More than just art shows, our events are about connection, accessibility, and community. We believe that art should be shared, celebrated, and accessible to all—and we’re here to make that happen, one pop-up at a time.
